No, not necessarily. Recall that distribution is not the same as
replication (i.e. a specific content will only be available from one of
the (say) 10 benchmark site locations).
The purpose of the distribution is to marginalize the impact of the
benchmark site location (so that one CDN does not have an inherent
advantage over another).

But if the source data is so widely distributed (10 sites) doesn't that
lessen the need or benefit of using a CDN?
